South Main Street Corridor with Bicycle & Pedestrian Enhancements
The City of Fort Bragg is undertaking a grant-funded community planning process to identify future public improvements along the South Main Street corridor from Oak Street to Highway 20. Families, community members, and business- and property-owners are encouraged to help create a vision for a more beautiful gateway to our community and for improvements that will benefit bicyclists and pedestrians who travel on this corridor.
The City of Fort Bragg is hosting a community design "open studio" to help plan improvements to the South Main Street corridor. The "open studio" will be held on Tuesday, March 30th through Thursday, April 1st at the C.V. Starr Community Center at 300 South Lincoln Street in Fort Bragg. The public is encouraged to drop by the "open studio" anytime during the day and share ideas with the design team about beautification, pedestrian and bicycle access, vehicle use, building design, signage, and landscaping for the South Main Street corridor. The open studio will be held on:
Tuesday, March 30: Noon to 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 31: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 1: 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Work prepared during the daytime sessions will be displayed at open houses on March 30 and 31st from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for the public to see the designs, ask questions and share ideas. Following the three-day open studio, there will be a summary presentation at the C.V. Starr Center on Thursday, April 1st at 5:30 p.m. Free food and childcare will be provided; bring the family! Presentations are available in English and Spanish. In addition, 12 family passes to the Aquatic Center will be given away as door prizes. Attendees will participate in a Community Image Survey, a survey tool that invites participants to express their feelings about images from Fort Bragg and other communities. Results from the survey will be used to develop Design Guidelines for South Main Street. Please come help shape the future look, feel, and usability of the South Main Street corridor.
This project is staffed by the Fort Bragg Community Development Department. It is funded by a Caltrans Environmental Justice Planning Grant and a Sustainable Communities Grant.
